Product Overview
The TIP147 is a high-power, complementary PNP Darlington transistor designed for high-gain amplification and switching applications. Unlike a standard bipolar junction transistor (BJT), the TIP147 features a Darlington configuration—essentially two transistors connected internally to provide a very high DC current gain ($h_{FE}$). This makes it exceptionally efficient at driving large loads from very small input currents, often found in high-power audio amplifiers, heavy-duty motor controllers, and voltage regulation circuits. It serves as the PNP counterpart to the popular NPN TIP142.
