Product Overview:
The SN74LS90 is a monolithic counter containing four master-slave flip-flops and additional gating to provide a divide-by-two counter and a three-stage binary counter. The resulting count cycle length for the device is a divide-by-five configuration. It features a gated zero reset as well as gated set-to-nine inputs for use in BCD nine's complement applications. To utilize the maximum decade count length, the B input is externally connected to the QA output while input count pulses are applied to input A. Alternatively, a symmetrical divide-by-ten square wave can be obtained at output QA by connecting the QD output to the A input and applying the input clock to the B input. Typical applications cover decade counters, binary counters, frequency dividers, and digital clocks.
