Product Overview

The MOC3041 is a zero-crossing TRIAC-driven optocoupler that contains an infrared light-emitting diode (LED) coupled with a TRIAC. When the internal LED is triggered, it activates the TRIAC. This device is primarily used as an opto-isolator to control external switching devices, such as MOSFETs, SCRs, or larger TRIACs, which in turn manage AC or DC loads. The integrated TRIAC can provide up to 1 A of peak current, which is sufficient to trigger these external switches. Note that the internal TRIAC should not be used to switch loads directly without an external switch.

Important Features

  • Zero-Crossing Driver: The device functions as an opto-isolator with a zero-crossing TRIAC driver.

  • Input LED Characteristics: The forward voltage of the input LED is 1.3 V.

  • Trigger Requirements: The LED forward trigger current is 15 mA.

  • Output Ratings: The TRIAC output terminal has a maximum voltage rating of 400 V.

  • Peak Output Current: The TRIAC provides a peak output current of 1 A.

  • Package Options: It is available in a 6-pin PDIP package, with and without the M-suffix.
