Product Overview

The MAX487CPA is a low-power, slew-rate-limited transceiver designed for RS-485 and RS-422 communication standards. Operating from a single 5V supply, it integrates one driver and one receiver into a single chip. Its slew-rate-limited design reduces EMI and minimizes reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, ensuring error-free data transmission up to 250kbps.

To maximize system robustness, the device features a fail-safe circuit that guarantees a logic-high receiver output if the inputs are open-circuited. It also includes a reduced unit loading (1/4-unit load), which allows up to 128 transceivers to share a single differential bus.
