Product Overview

The LM3914 is a monolithic integrated circuit that senses analog voltage levels and drives 10 LEDs to provide a linear analog display. A single mode-select pin allows the user to easily switch the display style between a moving dot and a continuous bar graph.

The chip features an internal floating 10-step voltage divider and an adjustable voltage reference, making it highly versatile for custom configurations. The open-collector LED driver outputs are current-regulated, eliminating the need for individual external resistors and allowing direct interface with TTL or CMOS logic. Multiple LM3914 ICs can also be cascaded ("chained") together to form expanded displays ranging from 20 to over 100 segments.
