The CD4017B is a CMOS 5-stage Johnson counter that features 10 fully decoded outputs. It includes CLOCK, RESET, and CLOCK INHIBIT inputs. The counter advances one count at the positive clock signal transition when the CLOCK INHIBIT signal is low. Applying a high RESET signal clears the counter back to its zero count. The Johnson counter configuration allows for high-speed operation and provides spike-free decoded outputs.
