Product Overview:

The ATtiny13A is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit AVR RISC-based microcontroller. It is optimized for efficiency, executing the majority of its 120 instructions in a single clock cycle, which allows it to achieve a throughput of up to 20 MIPS at 20 MHz. The device is designed for compact, low-voltage applications, operating within a voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V.

Core Specifications

  • Memory: 1K Bytes of In-System self-programmable Flash, 64 Bytes EEPROM, and 64 Bytes Internal SRAM.

  • Speed Grade: 0–20 MHz (depending on voltage).

  • Operating Voltage: 1.8V to 5.5V.

  • Package Options: Available in 8-pin PDIP/SOIC and 10/20-pad MLF packages, providing up to six programmable I/O lines.

Features

  • Peripheral Integration: Includes an 8-bit Timer/Counter with two PWM channels, a 4-channel 10-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), an on-chip analog comparator, and a programmable watchdog timer with its own internal oscillator.

  • Power Management: Offers multiple power-saving states, including Idle, ADC Noise Reduction, and Power-down modes.

  • System Reliability: Features an enhanced Power-on Reset (POR) circuit and a programmable brown-out detection circuit that can be disabled via software.

  • Development & Debugging: Supports the debugWIRE on-chip debug system and is in-system programmable via the SPI port.

Applications

The combination of low power consumption and versatile peripherals makes the ATtiny13A suitable for a wide range of embedded tasks, particularly in space-constrained or battery-operated designs such as:

  • Sensor signal conditioning and data collection.

  • Small motor control and simple automation.

  • Custom human-machine interface (HMI) logic for small appliances.

  • General-purpose glue logic for complex electronic systems.
