The SN74LS138 is a high-performance, Schottky-clamped TTL MSI 3-line to 8-line decoder/demultiplexer designed for high-speed memory decoding or data-routing applications. It minimizes system decoding delay by utilizing fast enable circuits and providing very short propagation delay times. The device decodes one of eight lines based on three binary select inputs and three enable inputs, simplifying system design. Additionally, its flexible enable inputs facilitate easy cascading and expansion, often eliminating the need for external gates or inverters.
