Product Overview

The SN74HC148 is a high-speed CMOS 8-line to 3-line priority encoder. It accepts eight active-LOW data inputs (0 through 7) and encodes them into a 3-bit active-LOW binary architecture output. As a priority encoder, it ensures that when multiple inputs are asserted at the same time, only the highest-order data line is recognized and processed.

The device features additional expansion control pins, including an input enable (EI) and an output enable (EO), which allow for effortless cascading of multiple stages into larger N-bit encoding systems without the need for external circuitry.
